Choeroplotosus decemfilis Kner 1867. Type by subsequent monotypy. On p. 3 of separate. Also described as new in Kner 1867:300 [ref. 2638]. In 1866:545 Kner listed one species as, "Choeroplotosus limbatus (Plotos. limbatus ? C. V.)", but in 1867 (p. 300) he described the species as Choeroplotosus decemfilis n. sp., with "Syn.? an Plotosus limbatus C. V." Apparently the genus can date to 1866:545 with no definitely-included named species, with species added in 1867; type C. decemfilis by subsequent monotypy. •Synonym of Cnidoglanis Günther 1864 -- (Ferraris 2007:346 [ref. 29155]). Current status: Synonym of Cnidoglanis Günther 1864. Plotosidae.

Type designated by Jordan 1919:332 [ref. 4904] with name misprinted Copiodoglanis. •Objective synonym of Tandanus Mitchell 1838 -- (Ferraris 2007:351 [ref. 29155]). Current status: Synonym of Tandanus Mitchell 1838. Plotosidae.

Unneeded replacement for Plotosus Lacepède 1803, not preoccupied by Plotus Linnaeus 1766 in Aves. •Objective synonym of Plotosus Lacepède 1803 -- (Taylor & Gomon 1986:160 [ref. 6196], Ferraris 2007:350 [ref. 29155], Kottelat 2013:240 [ref. 32989]). Fowler (MS) indicates the Eumeda elongata Castelnau is the same as Plotosus elongatus Castelnau, which makes Eumeda the senior objective synonym of Euristhmus Ogilby 1899. •Synonym of Neosilurus Steindachner 1867. Current status: Synonym of Neosilurus Steindachner 1867. Plotosidae.
