Habitat: freshwater.

Type catalog: Ibarra & Stewart 1987:67 [ref. 12367]. •Synonym of Phallichthys amates (Miller 1907), but a valid subspecies -- (Bussing 1998:214 [ref. 24179]). •Synonym of Phallichthys amates (Miller 1907) -- (Rosen & Bailey 1963:140 [ref. 7067], Lucinda in Reis et al. 2003:565 [ref. 27061], Huber 2019:86 [ref. 36941]). •Valid as Phallichthys pittieri (Meek 1912) -- (Meyer 2015:173 [ref. 34698]). Current status: Synonym of Phallichthys amates (Miller 1907). Poeciliidae: Poeciliinae. Habitat: freshwater.
