Holotype (unique): USNM 57844. Subjectively invalid; secondarily preoccupied by Trichidion opercularis Gill 1863; replaced by Polydactylus sealei Jordan & Richardson 1910. •Objective synonym of Filimanus sealei (Jordan & Richardson 1910) -- (Feltes 1991:319 [ref. 14760], Motomura 2004:3 [ref. 27601], Tashiro et al. 2013:45 [ref. 33132]). 2°Homonym. Current status: Synonym of Filimanus sealei (Jordan & Richardson 1910). Polynemidae. Habitat: marine.

sealei, Polydactylus Jordan [D. S.] & Richardson [R. E.] 1910:16 [Philippine Islands, Bureau of Science Publ. no. 1; ref. 6598] Zamboanga, Philippines. Holotype (unique): USNM 57884. Polydactylus opercularis Seale & Bean 1907 is a junior secondary homonym of Trichidion opercularis Gill 1863. Polydactylus sealei Jordan & Richardson 1910 is a replacement name for P. opercularis Seale & Bean. •Valid as Filimanus sealei (Jordan & Richardson 1910) -- (Feltes 1991:319 [ref. 14760], Randall & Lim in Randall & Lim 2000:622 [ref. 25122], Motomura et al. 2001:204 [ref. 25385], Feltes 2001:3101 [ref. 26107], Motomura 2004:3 [ref. 27601], Motomura 2004:27 [ref. 27970], Tashiro et al. 2013:45 [ref. 33132], Kang et al. 2017:[2] [ref. 35524], Motomura et al. 2017:180 [ref. 35490]).
