Holotype (unique): QM I.111. •Pomacentrus inornatus Jordan & Seale 1906 is an unjustified emendation but not treated as such by Allen 1991:253 [ref. 19344] who treats a Pomacentrus inornatus De Vis 1884 as a synonym of Stegastes fasciolatus and treats niomatus as status uncertain on p. 254 -- (Allen 1991:254 [ref. 19344]). •Synonym of Stegastes fasciolatus (Ogilby 1889) -- (Parenti 2021:82 [ref. 38418]). •Synonym of Plectroglyphidodon fasciolatus (Ogilby 1889). Current status: Synonym of Plectroglyphidodon fasciolatus (Ogilby 1889). Pomacentridae: Microspathodontinae. Habitat: marine.

Based on Pomacentrus inornatus of Regan 1913:370, Pl. 58 (fig. 1) [ref. 3652]. •Synonym of Stegastes fasciolatus (Ogilby 1889) -- (Allen & Emery 1985:15 [ref. 5236], Parenti 2021:82 [ref. 38418]). •Synonym of Plectroglyphidodon fasciolatus (Ogilby 1889).
