Type catalog: Nielsen 1974:65 [ref. 9588] with ZMUC P48218 as holotype, Fricke 2008:37 [ref. 30182]. As Sciaena argentea, nageb on p. 51; here two names for the same taxon. The name is binominal as Sciaena argentea in the index on p. xii, but in the text on p. 51, two alternative names are proposed, argentea or nageb. Both index and text are linked together by the species code ‘60’; the name Sciaena argentea is available by indication (ICZN, Art. 12.2.2) (see Fricke 2008:37 [ref. 30182]). Holotype figured in Klausewitz & Nielsen 1965:Pls. 19-20 [ref. 20847]. Not an independent species description, but based on Sciaena nageb Forsskål 1775 and Sciaena nageb Bonnaterre 1788, with different genus allocation; description also based on new material (see Fricke 2008:37 [ref. 30182]).
