Holotype: ZMB 33791. Paratypes: ZMB 33792 (5), ZISP53971 (2). Plus non-type material at FSJF. The name tararicus was treated as an adjective. •Synonym of Proterorhinus marmoratus (Pallas 1814) -- (Parin et al. 2014:503 [ref. 33547]). •Valid as Proterorhinus tataricus Freyhof & Naseka 2008 -- (Kottelat & Freyhof 2007:591 [ref. 29996], Neilson & Stepien 2009:98 [ref. 30497], Freyhof 2011:286 [ref. 31742], Manilo 2020:72 [ref. 37795], Parenti 2021:77 [ref. 38603], Zarei et al. 2021:[6] [ref. 38799]).
