Myers 1951:26 [ref. 13464] mentioned this name as a forgotten one appearing in synonymy of Pseudochromis as quoted by Day from a Tickell manuscript; two species were mentioned, and Myers included both and designated cocinicauda as type. Myers' use apparently does not make names available from Tickell in Day 1888; Myers' stated, "Apparently a synonym of Pseudochromis, but perhaps available for a subgenus."
