However, Labrus japonicus Valenciennes is permanently invalid (has been replaced by Choerops azurio Jordan & Snyder, 1901), and Labrus japonicus Houttuyn has been regarded as a nomen dubium in the genus Pseudolabrus (Mabuchi & Nakabo, 1997), so no new name needed. •Unneeded replacement name -- (Parenti & Randall 2018:14 [ref. 35964]).
