W.] 1934:359, Fig. 110 [Proceedings of the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia v. 85 (for 1933); ref. 1416] Gulf of Boni, Sulawesi, Indonesia, Albatross station 5651, depth 700 fathoms. Holotype: USNM 93139. USNM 240669 and 240670 are identified as P. microps from Bermuda; otherwise known only from the holotype. •Valid as Pseudoscopelus microps Fowler 1934 -- (Prokofiev & Kukuev 2005:749 [ref. 28534], Prokofiev & Kukuev 2006:159 [ref. 28617]). •Synonym of Pseudoscopelus altipinnis Parr 1933 -- (Melo et al. 2007:34 [ref. 29307], Spitz et al. 2007:335 [ref. 29400], Melo 2010:37 [ref. 31058], Prokofiev 2011:707 [ref. 31701]). Current status: Synonym of Pseudoscopelus altipinnis Parr 1933. Chiasmodontidae. Distribution: Indonesia and Bermuda [if valid]. Habitat: marine. paxtoni, Pseudoscopelus Melo [M. R. S.] 2010:42, Figs. 16B, 17B, 18A, 19A-B, 28H [Zootaxa No. 2710; ref. 31058] Off Chatham Islands, at East Chatham Rise, 42°39'S, 176°57'W, New Zealand, Tasman Sea, depth 1409 meters. Holotype: NMNZ P.28657. Paratypes: NMNZ P.18068 (1), P.20235 (1), P.20236 (1), P.21272 (1), P. 24155 (1), P.24161 (1), P.24255 (1), P.25805 (1), P.25806 (1), P.36790 (1), P.37858 (1), P.38679 (1); SIO 07-164 [ex NMNZ P.28793] (1); USNM 391143 [ex NMNZ P.28700] (1). Plus one non-type specimen. •Synonym of Pseudoscopelus altipinnis Parr 1933 -- (Prokofiev 2011:707 [ref. 31701]). •Valid as Pseudoscopelus paxtoni Melo 2010 -- (Melo & Stewart 2015:1456 [ref. 34290]). Current status: Valid as Pseudoscopelus paxtoni Melo 2010. Chiasmodontidae. Distribution: Southwestern Pacific: Australia, Chatham Islands to New Zealand [if valid]. Habitat: marine. |
