Neotype: HUJ 10635. Also appeared in Kossmann & Räuber 1877:15, Pisces Pl. 2 (fig. 6) [ref. 14246]. Neotype designated by Fricke et al. 2017:3 [ref. 35454]. •Valid as Ptarmus gallus (Kossmann & Räuber 1877) -- (Dor 1984:88 [ref. 29757], Goren & Dor 1994:22 [ref. 25356], DiBattista et al. 2015:19 [ref. 35706], Fricke et al. 2017:3, 8 [ref. 35454] as Parmus once, Bogorodsky & Randall 2018:[4] 242 [ref. 36492], Golani & Fricke 2018:57 [ref. 36273], Poss 2022:562 [ref. 39726]). Current status: Valid as Ptarmus gallus (Kossmann & Räuber 1877). Synanceiidae: Aploactininae. Distribution: Red Sea endemic. Habitat: marine.
