Kottelat 1998:120 [ref. 23436] points out that Jordan 1919:201 [ref. 2410] serves as first revisor, selecting Brachyrus over Brachirus in Scorpaenidae, and Kottelat uses Brachirus Swainson 1839 as the available genus of soles. As Dendrochirus on p. 180; in volume 1 [1838] as Brachirus (p. 71) and Brachyrus (p. 264). Bleeker 1876:42 serves as first reviser selecting Dendrochirus (see Eschmeyer & Randall 1975:275 [ref. 6389]). Based on "Les Pterois" of Cuvier 1816 (see Gill 1903:966 [ref. 5768]). Technical addition of species not researched.
