johnstoniensis, Gobius Koumans [F. P.] (ex De Vis) 1940:166 [Zoologische Mededeelingen (Leiden) v. 22; ref. 2676] Johnstone River, Innisfail, Queensland, Australia. Lectotype: AMS I.447. Paralectotypes: AMS I.446 (1), I.448 (1). Apparently not available from Koumans. Based on manuscript name of De Vis found on specimens. A description is provided, but Koumans treated the specimens from Johnston River as (or probably) Stigmatogobius javanicus (Blkr.)." The name was not therefore treated as valid (name in synonymy) when proposed (Art. 11.5 of the Code). Subsequently made available back to Koumans 1940 by Whitley 1952:29, Fig. 6 [ref. 4717] as Stigmatogobius johnstoniensis.
