squamipinnis, Mugil Swainson [W.] 1839:234, 413 [The natural history and classification v. 2; ref. 4303] Ganges, India. No types known. On p. 234 as squamipinnis and referring to appendix [p. 413]; as squamopennis on p. 413-414. Thompson apparently confused Swainson 1839 with a Swainson 1820 reference. Since squamipinnis dates to 1839, then the name for this species is Rhinomugil corsula Hamilton 1822. I. A. Harrison kindly examined Swainson 1820 and found no mention of squamipinnis. •Valid as Rhinomugil squamipinnis (Swainson 1839) -- (Thomson 1997:499 [ref. 23428]). •Synonym of Rhinomugil corsula (Hamilton 1822) -- (Kottelat 2013:282 [ref. 32989]).
