tanakae, Rouleina Parr [A. E.] 1951:14 [American Museum Novitates No. 1531; ref. 3380] Okinose, near Misake, Japan. Holotype (unique): ZUMT 2148. Type catalog: Aizawa et al. 2022:224 [ref. 39655]. The spelling tanakae is acceptable; early workers almost certainly Latinized the name first, and then added an 'e' (Art. 31.1.1) [WNE, 12 Mar. 2012] although Parr may not have known this -- we now suggest using tanakae. The type is also a paratype of Aleposomus watasei. •Synonym of Rouleina guentheri (Alcock 1892) -- (Okamura & Machida 1986:31 [ref. 22278], Sazonov & Williams 2001:S22 [ref. 26712]). Current status: Synonym of Rouleina guentheri (Alcock 1892). Alepocephalidae. Habitat: marine.
