Original paratypes: ?MCZ 35913 [ex USNM 51793] (2); USNM 51793 [not 51792 (1)] (17), 291686 [ex 51793] (14), 307577 [ex USNM 51793] (2). Type catalog: Springer et al. 1991:21 [ref. 18888]. The published catalog number USNM 51792 for the "type" is incorrect, it should have been 51793; the USNM ledger originally listed 20 specimens in 51793, and later only 17 specimens found. The "type" is not distinguishable; a neotype was designated from the types by Springer & Williams 1994:123 [ref. 21878]. •Synonym of Istiblennius edentulus (Forster & Schneider 1801) -- (Springer & Williams 1994:103 [ref. 21878], Kottelat 2013:383 [ref. 32989]). Current status: Synonym of Istiblennius edentulus (Forster & Schneider 1801). Blenniidae: Salariinae. Habitat: marine.
