The described specimen was designated lectotype by Eschmeyer 1998:1648 [ref. 23416]. •Valid as Onychostoma tamusuiensis (Oshima 1919) -- (Bănărescu 1971:358 [ref. 20619]). •Synonym of Varicorhinus barbatulus (Pellegrin 1908) -- (Wu et al. 1977:303 [ref. 4807]). •Synonym of Scaphesthes barbatulus (Pellegrin 1908) -- (Ho & Shao 2011:30 [ref. 31432]). •Synonym of Onychostoma barbatulum (Pellegrin 1908) -- (Zhang et al. 2016:92 [ref. 34477] as barbatula). Current status: Synonym of Onychostoma barbatulum (Pellegrin 1908). Cyprinidae: Acrossocheilinae. Habitat: freshwater.
