Current status: Valid as Scarus caudofasciatus (Günther 1862). Labridae. Distribution: Indian Ocean: KwaZulu-Natal (East Africa), Amirantes (Seychelles), Madagascar and western Mascarenes (La Réunion, Mauritius) east to Maldives, Andaman Islands (India), Myanmar and west coast of Thailand. Habitat: marine.

Holotype: SAIAB [formerly RUSI] 76. Paratypes: evidently none saved. Also described as new in Smith 1956:934, Pl. 24B [ref. 12527]. •Synonym of Scarus caudofasciatus (Günther 1862) -- (Randall & Bruce 1983:12 [ref. 5412], Parenti & Randall 2000:55 [ref. 24943]). Current status: Synonym of Scarus caudofasciatus (Günther 1862). Labridae. Habitat: marine.
