Lectotype selected by Dor 1984:213 [ref. 29757] but description evidently based only on one specimen. •Valid as Scarus collana Rüppell 1835 -- (Randall & Bruce 1983:13 [ref. 5412], Dor 1984:213 [ref. 29757], Bellwood 1994:67 [ref. 19116], Goren & Dor 1994:56 [ref. 25356], Parenti & Randall 2000:55 [ref. 24943], Bogorodsky & Randall 2018:[6] 244 [ref. 36492], Golani & Fricke 2018:132 [ref. 36273], Randall 2022:279 [ref. 39936]). Current status: Valid as Scarus collana Rüppell 1835. Labridae. Distribution: Red Sea endemic. Habitat: marine.

Perhaps not intended as a new name; same as collana Rüppell. •Synonym of Scarus collana Rüppell 1835 -- (Dor 1984:213 [ref. 29757], Parenti & Randall 2000:55 [ref. 24943]). Current status: Synonym of Scarus collana Rüppell 1835. Labridae. Habitat: marine.

Holotype (unique): NMW (not yet found). Not included in abstract [ref. 14894]. Holotype (unique): MNHN 1975-0892. Spelled ghardaquensis in main heading, ghardaqensis in title (and index to volume) and twice on p. 80, Ghardaq ensis in legend to Fig. 2 and on p. 80; the spelling ghardaqensis was selected by Eschmeyer 1998:640 [ref. 23416]. •Synonym of Scarus collana Rüppell 1835 -- (Randall & Bruce 1983:13 [ref. 5412], Dor 1984:213 [ref. 29757], Parenti & Randall 2000:55 [ref. 24943], Golani & Fricke 2018:132 [ref. 36273]).
