Current status: Synonym of Scarus rivulatus Valenciennes 1840. Labridae. Habitat: marine.

quinquefasciatus, Scarus Bennett [J. W.] 1830:unnum. p., Pl. 23 [A selection from the most remarkable and interesting fishes found on the coast of Ceylon First Edition; ref. 16785] South coast of Sri Lanka. No types known. Spelled quinque-fasciatus originally. •Synonym of Hemigymnus fasciatus (Bloch 1792) -- (Pethiyagoda et al. 1994:44 [ref. 21456], Parenti & Randall 2000:25 [ref. 24943], Randall 2013:10 [ref. 32519], Randall & Victor 2022:212 [ref. 39916]). Current status: Synonym of Hemigymnus fasciatus (Bloch 1792). Labridae. Habitat: marine.
