Current status: Synonym of Scatophagus tetracanthus (Lacepède 1802). Scatophagidae. Habitat: freshwater, brackish, marine.

Distribution: Indo-West Pacific: Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa), East Africa and Madagascar east to Papua New Guinea, south to northern Australia. Habitat: freshwater, brackish, marine.
