Boeseman 1964:463, Fig. 6 [ref. 20805] regards this as an available subspecies, not the same as Scomber japonicus Houttuyn 1782. The name is objectively invalid; preoccupied by Scomber japonicus Houttuyn 1782. •Synonym of Scomber japonicus Houttuyn 1782 -- (Collette 2003:9 [ref. 27312]). 1°Homonym.
