Based on drawings, one specimen not examined (see Whitehead 1970:211, Pl. 2b [ref. 11606]). •Valid as Scorpaenopsis leonina Richardson 1846 -- (Bijukumar & Sushama 2000:185 [ref. 25703] [misidentification]). •Synonym of Scorpaenopsis cirrosa (Thunbert 1793) -- (Randall & Eschmeyer 2002:17 [ref. 25801]). Current status: Synonym of Scorpaenopsis cirrosa (Thunberg 1793). Scorpaenidae: Scorpaeninae. Habitat: marine.
