Original type locality (northern Uruguay) is erroneous (see Koerber 2024:28 [ref. 41192]). •Valid species as Scyliorhinus besnardi Springer & Sadowsky 1970 -- (Compagno 1984:357 [ref. 6846], Compagno 1999:480 [ref. 25589], Soares et al. 2015:358 [ref. 33716], Weigmann 2016:43 [ref. 34211], Nión et al. 2016:20 [ref. 35565]). •Synonym of Scyliorhinus haeckelii (Miranda Ribeiro 1907) -- (Soares et al. 2016:514 [ref. 34158], Soares & Carvalho 2019:68 [ref. 36701]). Current status: Synonym of Scyliorhinus haeckelii (Miranda Ribeiro 1907). Scyliorhinidae. Distribution: Southwestern Atlantic: southern Brazil to Argentina (if valid). Habitat: marine.
