Syntypes: (2 or 3) whereabouts unknown. Evidently all originals have a correction of "Seriphus politus" glued in the beginning of the account over "Corvina polita" so the original genus is Seriphus. Current status: Valid as Seriphus politus Ayres 1860. Sciaenidae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: southern British Columbia (Canada) south to Pacific coast of southern Baja California Sur (Mexico).
