Current status: Synonym of Serranochromis robustus (Günther 1864). Cichlidae: Pseudocrenilabrinae. Habitat: freshwater.

thumbergi, Chromys Castelnau [F. L.] 1861:13 [Mémoire sur les poissons de l'Afrique australe; ref. 767] Okovango River. Neotype: BMNH 1910.5.31.58. Type catalog: Bauchot et al. 1978:47 [ref. 20862]. Original genus should have been Chromis. Neotype designated by Trewavas 1964:23 [ref. 3717]. •Valid as Serranochromis thumbergi (Castelnau 1861) -- (Greenwood 1984:228 [ref. 5311], Skelton & Teugels 1991:452 [ref. 20962], Skelton 1993:318 [ref. 24071], Skelton 2001:318 [ref. 27406], Marshall 2011:234 [ref. 31755], Bruton et al. 2018:101 [ref. 36373], Skelton 2019:236 [ref. 36564], Stauffer et al. 2021:83 [ref. 38061], Abwe et al. 2023:32 [ref. 39992]). Current status: Valid as Serranochromis thumbergi (Castelnau 1861). Cichlidae: Pseudocrenilabrinae. Distribution: Southern and southern-central Africa. Habitat: freshwater.
