Current status: Valid as Setipinna breviceps (Cantor 1849). Engraulidae: Coiliinae. Distribution: Indo-West Pacific. Habitat: brackish, marine.

Holotype (unique): RMNH 7077. Bleeker specimens: BMNH 1867.11.28.55 (1), 24965 [ex RMNH 7077] (2). Kottelat 2013:54 [ref. 32989] says Whitehead et al. (1966) made an incorrect spelling; he says Bleeker's spelling must be emended to Pfeifferae. •Synonym of Setipinna breviceps (Cantor 1849) -- (Whitehead et al. 1988:452 [ref. 5725], Wongratana et al. 1999:1722 [ref. 24719], Kottelat 2013:54 [ref. 32989]). Current status: Synonym of Setipinna breviceps (Cantor 1849). Engraulidae: Coiliinae. Habitat: brackish, marine.
