Type catalog: Koumans 1940:193 [ref. 2676]. •Valid as Sicyopterus extraneus Herre 1927 -- (authors). •Synonym of Sicyopterus macrostetholepis (Bleeker 1853) -- (Kottelat 2013:428 [ref. 32989]). •Synonym of Sicyopterus lagocephalus (Pallas 1770) -- (Watson et al. 2000:13 [ref. 25138], Keith et al. 2015:102 [ref. 34328]). Current status: Synonym of Sicyopterus lagocephalus (Pallas 1770). Oxudercidae: Sicydiinae. Habitat: freshwater, brackish, marine.
