Holotype (unique): USNM 55915. •Valid as Siganus unimaculatus (Evermann & Seale 1907) -- (Woodland 1990:113 [ref. 19220], Myers 1999:268 [ref. 23965], Woodland in Randall & Lim 2000:641 [ref. 25122], Nakabo 2000:1315 [ref. 25182], Sadovy & Cornish 2000:266 [ref. 25480], Hutchins 2001:45 [ref. 25847], Kuiter & Debelius 2001:177 [ref. 26232], Woodland 2001:3650 [ref. 26300], Nakabo 2002:1315 [ref. 26193], Randall 2005:603 [ref. 28239], Allen et al. 2006:1727 [ref. 29090], Allen & Erdmann 2012:1014 [ref. 31980]). Current status: Valid as Siganus unimaculatus (Evermann & Seale 1907). Siganidae. Distribution: Western Pacific: Philippines, Ryukyu Islands, Ogasawara Islands, and isolated population at Rowley Shoals (northeast shelf of Australia). Habitat: marine.
