In Abe 1949 [ref. 3], a type species is fixed by indication (monotypy), so authorship does not date to Marshall [N. B.] & Palmer [G.] 1950 (in Zoological Record for 1949) as indicated by some authors. Gastrophysus can be suppressed under the ICZN, and Matsuura 2015 has declared his intention to ask the ICZN to suppress Gastrophysus (Matsuura 2015) but no decision has been made.
