Type catalog: Ibarra & Stewart 1987:62 [ref. 12367]. •Valid as Ophioscion venezuelae Schultz 1945 -- (González Bencomo et al. 1997:159 [ref. 24960]). •Valid as Stellifer venezuelae (Schultz 1945) -- (Chao 1978:41 [ref. 6983], Cervigón 1992:413 [ref. 23827], Cervigón 1993:311 [ref. 24474], Aguilera 1998:51 [ref. 24221], Chao 2003:1646 [ref. 27097], Parenti 2020:53 [ref. 37439], Chao et al. 2021:461 [ref. 38395], Andrade-Santos et al. 2024:11 [ref. 41194]). Current status: Valid as Stellifer venezuelae (Schultz 1945). Sciaenidae. Distribution: Western Atlantic: Honduras, Colombia, Venezuela and Trinidad. Habitat: brackish, marine.
