Syntypes: BMNH 1889.2.1.4303 (dry half skin). Type catalog: Whitehead & Talwar 1976:161 [ref. 23762]. Also appeared in Day 1865:111, Pl. 7, fig. 2 [ref. 1074]. •Questionably a synonym of Stenogobius gymnopomus (Bleeker 1853) -- (Talwar & Jhingran 1991:945 [ref. 20764]). •Questionably a senior synonym of Stenogobius macropterus (Duncker 1912) -- (D. Hoese/H.K. Larson data). Current status: Synonym of Stenogobius gymnopomus (Bleeker 1853). Oxudercidae: Gobionellinae. Habitat: freshwater, brackish, marine.
