Named for Mr. Steward but spelled Stevardia (no 'w' in Latin). •Synonym of Corynopoma Gill 1858 by action of first reviser -- (Günther 1864:287 [ref. 1974]; see Weitzman & Fink 1985:2 [ref. 5203], Taphorn 1992:164 [ref. 23654] as Stewardia, Weitzman & Menezes 1998:186 [ref. 23843], Weitzman in Reis et al. 2003:223 [ref. 27061]). Current status: Synonym of Corynopoma Gill 1858. Characidae: Stevardiinae.
