Original spelling as Blennivs pvnctatvs; historical typeset, name equals punctatus. Lectotype: USNM 27573. Paralectotypes: (17) MCZ 35919 [ex USNM 27573] (2); USNM 27565 (not found in 1980), 27580 (8), 112750 [ex USNM 27573] (4). Type catalog: Springer & Anderson 1997:11-12 [ref. 22953]. Originally as Stichæus ? Rothrocki, but at end of account Bean placed the species in Notogrammus. Lectotype designation: Springer & Anderson 1997:11-12 [ref. 22953]. •Synonym of Stichaeus punctatus (Fabricius 1780) -- (Mecklenburg et al. 2002:747 [ref. 25968], Mecklenburg & Sheiko 2004:6 [ref. 27604], Parin et al. 2014:452 [ref. 33547]).
