Apparently a misspelling of Stolephorus baganensis megalops Delsman 1931. Also in Hardenberg 1934:339 [ref. 16426]. •Synonym of Stolephorus baganensis Hardenberg 1934 -- (Whitehead et al. 1988:405 [ref. 5725], Wongratana et al. 1999:1729 [ref. 24719]). •Synonym of Stolephorus baganensis Delsman 1931 -- (Kottelat 2013:54 [ref. 32989]). •Synonym of Stolephorus tri (Bleeker 1852) -- (Hata et al. 2019:32 [ref. 36766]). Misspelling. Current status: Synonym of Stolephorus tri (Bleeker 1852). Engraulidae: Engraulinae. Habitat: brackish, marine.

[Rodkan mouth at Bagen si Api Api, Sumatra, Indonesia.] Neotype: RMNH.PISC 2222. Syntypes: lost. Hardenberg (and Whitehead 1968:18 [ref. 7931]) later used the name Stolephorus baganensis macrops by mistake for this subspecies. Neotype designated by Hata et al. 2019:32 [ref. 36766]. •Synonym of Stolephorus baganensis Delsman 1931 -- (Kottelat 2013:54 [ref. 32989]). •Synonym of Stolephorus tri (Bleeker 1852) -- (Hata et al. 2019:32 [ref. 36766]).
