Mees 1962:33 [ref. 13277] states, "... type locality here restricted to Rio de Janeiro, lectotype the type of B. almeida Quoy & Gaimard, which makes timucu Valenciennes (nec Walbaum) an objective synonym of almeida; but almeida has syntypes and Mees gives no catalog numbers, so Mees 1962:33 [ref. 13277] did not establish a lectotype. •Synonym of Strongylura marina (Walbaum 1792) -- (Collette et al. 1997:27 [ref. 22813], Collette 2003:7 [ref. 27306]). 2°Homonym.
