Current status: Valid as Sturisomatichthys frenatus (Boulenger 1902). Loricariidae: Loricariinae. Distribution: Pacific versant rivers (Esmeraldas, San Javier, Salidero and Durango), Ecuador and Patia River basin, Colombia. Habitat: freshwater.
