Type catalog: Paepke 1999:92 [ref. 24282]. Genus name spelled Lutianus on plate. On p. 5 of Bloch's Ichthyologie, v. 8 [ref. 21381]. Name available, with author Fabricius (see Fricke 2008:49 [ref. 30182]). Also in Bonnaterre 1788:114 [ref. 4940] and Walbaum 1792:260 [ref. 4572]. Reversal of priority in favor of Labrus rostratus Bloch 1791 is suggested (Art. 23.9), as most authors used the latter name as valid. •Valid as Symphodus scina (Fabricius 1775) -- (Vasil'eva 2007:120 [ref. 30517], Parin et al. 2014:381 [ref. 33547]) •In the synonymy of Symphodus rostratus (Bloch 1791) -- (Parenti & Randall 2000:43 [ref. 24943], Parin 2003:S19 [ref. 28536], Fricke 2008:49 [ref. 30182], Lipej & Dulčić 2010:55 [ref. 36649], Parenti & Randall 2018:24 [ref. 35964]).
