Figured in Philippi 1892:2, Pl. 1 (fig. 3) [ref. 22759] and Philippi 1893:3, Pl. 1 (fig. 3) [ref. 14560]. •Valid as Sympterygia lima (Poeppig 1835) -- (McEachran 1982:888 [ref. 5381], Pequeño 1989:17 [ref. 14125], McEachran & Dunn 1998:286 [ref. 23312], Compagno 1999:490 [ref. 25589], Weigmann 2016:102 [ref. 34211], Last et al. 2016:25 [ref. 34941], Last et al. 2016:472 [ref. 35005]). Replacement name for Raja chilensis Steindachner 1898, preoccupied by Raia chilensis Guichenot 1848; also Fowler 1910 provided the identical replacement name. •Synonym of Sympterygia lima (Poeppig 1835) -- (McEachran 1982:888 [ref. 5381]). Replacement name for Raja chilensis Steindachner 1898, preoccupied by Raia chilensis Guichenot 1848. Raja steindachneri Fowler 1910 is objectively invalid; preoccupied by Raja steindachneri Delfin 1901, a replacement name for the same species. •Synonym of Sympterygia lima (Poeppig 1835) -- (based on placement of anacanthostyla by McEachran 1982:888 [ref. 5381]). 1°Homonym.
