Holotype (unique): USNM 107203. •Valid as Synagrops pseudomicrolepis Schultz 1940 -- (Stella Mejía et al. 2001:204 [ref. 40798], Heemstra & Yamanoue 2003:1302 [ref. 35184], Lins Oliveira et al. 2015:143 [ref. 37485]). •Valid as Verilus pseudomicrolepis (Schultz 1940) -- (Schwarzhans & Prokofiev 2017:58 [ref. 35293], Schwarzhans et al. 2020:595 [ref. 37392], Robertson et al. 2022:86 [ref. 39353]). Current status: Valid as Verilus pseudomicrolepis (Schultz 1940). Malakichthyidae. Distribution: Western Atlantic: Cuba south to Rio Grande do Norte (Brazil), including Caribbean Sea. Habitat: marine.
