schlegeli, Syngnathus Kaup [J. J.] 1853:232 [Archiv für Naturgeschichte v. 19 (pt. 1); ref. 2569] Japan and China. Holotype (unique): RMNH. Non-type specimens: BMNH (1), MNHN 0000-6110 (2) China. Type catalog: Bertin & Estève 1950:47 [ref. 19576]. Appeared in 1953, not 2575:46, 75. The original description states that the description of the original specimen was a specimen belonging to the Leiden Museum.
