Holotype (unique): MNHN 0000-0902. Type catalog: Bauchot 1963:124-125 [ref. 20718]. Original genus should have been Chaetodon. Based on 'Chétodon tachete' of Liénard 1839:36 [ref. 17536] and Liénard 1840:297 [ref. 30337]; description quoted from Liénard. Objectively invalid; preoccupied by Tetragonopterus maculatus Bleeker (ex Liénard) 1875. Objectively invalid; Preoccupied by Chaetodon maculatus Bloch 1795. •In the synonymy of Chaetodon guttatissimus Bennett 1832 -- (Burgess 1978:722 [ref. 700], Allen 1980:158 [ref. 22764], Heemstra & Heemstra 2022:452 [ref. 39746] as Chaetodon (Tetragonopterus) maculatus). •Synonym of Chaetodon lunula (Lacepède 1802) -- (Fricke 1999:332 [ref. 24106]). 1°Homonym.
