Current status: Valid as Tetraodon lineatus Linnaeus 1758. Tetraodontidae. Distribution: North Africa, central Africa. Habitat: freshwater, brackish.

longicauda, Dilobomycterus Bibron [G.] in Duméril 1855:279 [Revue et Magasin de Zoologie (Sér. 2) v. 7; ref. 297] Lectotype: BMNH 1852.9.13.92. Le Danois specimens: MNHN B-1482 (1), B-1494 (1), B-1565 (1), B-1567 (1). Original genus was spelled Dilobomyctère, latinized as Dilobomycterus by Troschel 1856:88 [ref. 12559]. Le Danois 1962:464-465 [ref. 21440] lists types as holotype and paratypes. See Kottelat 2001:613 [ref. 25859]; he regards the generic name as latinized and as available by indication to two available species name; he designated the holotype of Tetraodon strigatus Bennett 1834 as the lectotype of longicauda. •Synonym of Tetraodon lineatus Linnaeus 1758. Current status: Synonym of Tetraodon lineatus Linnaeus 1758. Tetraodontidae.

Type catalog: Le Danois 1962:467 [ref. 21440] with holotype and paratypes. Rüppell 1829:5 [ref. 22233] spelled the name as Tetraodon physis. Original genus should have been spelled Tetraodon. The page number is from a different edition. •Synonym of Tetraodon lineatus Linnaeus 1758 -- (Roberts 1986:434 [ref. 6223] with 3566 as holotype, Ebert 2001:92 [ref. 25494]). Current status: Synonym of Tetraodon lineatus Linnaeus 1758. Tetraodontidae. Habitat: freshwater, brackish.

Unnecessary replacement name for Tetraodon lineatus of Bloch 1786:Pl. 141 [ref. 465], allegedly different from Tetraodon lineatus Linnaeus 1758 according to Billberg 1833; see Kullander 2016:114 [ref. 34147]. •Synonym of Tetraodon lineatus Linnaeus 1758 -- (Kullander 2016:114 [ref. 34147]). Current status: Synonym of Tetraodon lineatus Linnaeus 1758. Tetraodontidae. Habitat: freshwater, brackish.
