Paratypes: USNM 197643 [ex 37669] (1). •Valid as Thalassophryne megalops Bean & Weed 1910 -- (Collette 1966:850 [ref. 14192], Cervigón 1992:268 [ref. 23827], Collette 2003:1042 [ref. 26981], Greenfield et al. 2008:675 [ref. 30046], Ibagón et al. 2011:51 [ref. 31492]). Current status: Valid as Thalassophryne megalops Bean & Weed 1910. Batrachoididae: Thalassophryninae. Distribution: Western Atlantic: Panama and (?) Colombia. Habitat: marine.
