Current status: Valid as Thryssa chefuensis (Günther 1874). Engraulidae: Coiliinae. Distribution: Northwestern Pacific: southern China and Taiwan north to Korea and Japan. Habitat: marine.

Syntypes and Bleeker specimens: (9) BMNH 1867.11.28.56 (1), MNHN 0000-1232 (1) Banka, RMNH 24962 (some of 16). Type catalog: Whitehead & Bauchot 1986:52 [ref. 9739]. Engraulis kammalensis Bleeker 1849 was included in synonymy. Engraulis rhinorrhynchus is a misspelling. Also appeared in Bleeker 1852:434 [ref. 16827] with citation to 1852:40. •Synonym of Thryssa kammalensis (Bleeker 1849) -- (Whitehead et al. 1988:433 [ref. 5725], Wongratana et al. 1999:1749 [ref. 24719]). Current status: Synonym of Thryssa kammalensis (Bleeker 1849). Engraulidae: Coiliinae. Habitat: brackish, marine.
