Based on specimens and literature sources; two available species names were cited in synonymy: Clupea mystax Bloch & Schneider 1801 and Thryssa porava Bleeker 1849. Bleeker specimens: (35) NMV 46127 (1). Appeared as "Engraulis poorawah Blkr = Thryssa mystax Rich." This would refer to Richardson's treatment of Clupea mystax (not of Bloch & Schneider). •Synonym of Thrissina mystax (Bloch & Schneider 1801) -- (Kottelat 2013:57 [ref. 32989]). •Synonym of Thryssa mystax (Bloch & Schneider 1801).
