Syntypes: BMNH 1914.5.27.12-15 (4), ?1959.8.12.10-13 (4). •Valid as Tilapia margaritacea Boulenger 1916 -- (Teugels & Thys van den Audenaerde 1991:492 [ref. 20943], Stiassny et al. 2007:363 [ref. 30045], Dunz & Schliewen 2010:277 [ref. 31064], Dunz & Schliewen 2012:18 [ref. 31983]). •Valid as Coptodon margaritaceus (Boulenger 1916) -- (Dunz & Schliewen 2013:73 [ref. 32672] as margaritacea). Current status: Valid as Coptodon margaritaceus (Boulenger 1916). Cichlidae: Pseudocrenilabrinae. Distribution: West-central Africa: Nyong River basin, Cameroon. Habitat: freshwater.
