Forgotten name which was not used as valid after 1999, therefore reversal of priority in favor of Torpedo marmorata Risso 1810 is followed (Art. 23.9). Not treated by Mago-Leccia 1994 [ref. 21320]; see Campos-da-Paz in Reis et al. 2003:483 [ref. 27061] for synonym as a nomen oblitum. •Synonym of Electrophorus electricus (Linnaeus 1766) -- (Campos-da-Paz in Reis et al. 2003:483 [ref. 27061], Ferraris et al. 2017:[16] [ref. 35236]). Nomen Oblitum. Current status: Synonym of Electrophorus electricus (Linnaeus 1766). Gymnotidae: Electrophorinae. Habitat: freshwater.
