No types known. Secondary homonym. Lichtenstein (editor, p. 301, footnote) treats as a synonym of "Lepidogaster pinnulatus Bl. Schn. Syst. p. 2". •Synonym of Trachelochismus pinnulatus (Forster 1844) -- (R. Fricke, pers. comm., 7/22/2008). 2°Homonym. Current status: Synonym of Trachelochismus pinnulatus (Forster 1801). pinnulatus, Lepadogaster Forster [J. R.] in Bloch & Schneider 1801:2 [M. E. Blochii, Systema Ichthyologiae; ref. 471] Queen Charlotte Sound, Marlborough Sounds, South Island, New Zealand. Based on description in manuscript by Forster (Johann Reinhold Forster, 1729-1798, German explorer and naturalist of Cook's second voyage). •Valid as Trachelochismus pinnulatus (Forster 1801) -- (Briggs 1955:19 [ref. 637], Paulin et al. 1989:142 [ref. 24556], Paulin & Roberts 1992:46 [ref. 24625], Stewart 2015:1555 [ref. 34196], Conway et al. 2017:547 [ref. 35580]). Current status: Valid as Trachelochismus pinnulatus (Forster 1801). Gobiesocidae: Trachelochisminae. Distribution: New Zealand region. Habitat: marine.
