Lectotype selected by Boeseman 1947:211 [ref. 12876]. •Valid as Triacanthus brevirostris Temminck & Schlegel 1850 -- (Krishnan & Mishra 1993:236 [ref. 24016], Cheng & Zhou 1997:468 [ref. 26385] dated 1846, Lindberg et al. 1997:52 [ref. 23547], Wang et al. 2001:331 [ref. 26566] dated 1846). •Synonym of Triacanthus biaculeatus (Bloch 1786) -- (Tyler 1968:254 [ref. 6438], Randall 1995:391 [ref. 22896], Carpenter et al. 1997:235 [ref. 23922], Choi et al. 2003:690 [ref. 26218], Hoese et al. 2006:1866 [ref. 29067], Kottelat 2013:468 [ref. 32989]). Current status: Synonym of Triacanthus biaculeatus (Bloch 1786). Triacanthidae. Distribution: Western North Pacific (if valid). Habitat: brackish, marine.
