Holotype (unique): ZMB 8189 (dry). Unneeded new name for Trachinus trichodon Pallas [not Tilesius], apparently to avoid Strickland tautonymy. Species is incorrectly spelled as Drachinus trichodon in the list of plates on the title page (p. 406), as Trachinus gasteropelecus vel Trichodon stelleri on p. 466; spelling corrected as Trachinus trichodon in text and below the figure of the specimen on Pl. 15 (fig. 8) -- see Mecklenburg 2003:2 [ref. 27305].
